Novas Receives Multi-year Commitment From Sun Microsystems
Debussy Deployed Worldwide for SPARC Processor and ASIC Developments
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2001--Novas Software,
Inc., the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, today
announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW - news) recently signed a
multi-year, volume purchase agreement with Novas. The renowned
provider of industrial-strength hardware, software and services will
deploy Novas' Debussy® debug system worldwide, so designers
throughout the company can leverage it when creating components for
Sun workstations and servers particularly SPARC processors and ASICs.
Sunil Joshi, Vice President, Design Automation and Computer
Resources at Sun said, "The Debussy product has been designed to
increase IC designer productivity by streamlining the debugging
process. We believe that Debussy will simplify debugging through its
features that are intended to help designers quickly locate, isolate
and understand the cause of bugs. This should help assure us that bugs
are not recreated in future designs and aid in easily removing them
from existing designs."
Scott Sandler, president and CEO of Novas said, "This purchase
agreement from Sun clearly indicates that customers believe Novas'
debug system enhances designer productivity and helps engineers to
produce ever-higher quality silicon in short market windows. Sun's
wide deployment also underscores a trend. Companies recognize that
they need to reduce the most expensive portion of the verification
process, the debug cycle, and they are turning to Novas for the fix."
About Novas
Novas Software, Inc. focuses on improving the human understanding
process involved in debugging IC and SoC designs. The company's
technology and products provide designers with the ability to shorten
verification and debug cycles--the most labor-intensive and expensive
portions of the design process. With its Debussy®, Verilog and VHDL
debug system, designers can easily locate, isolate, and understand the
causes of unexpected design behavior in half the time of traditional
solutions, thereby maximizing the efficiency of engineering resources,
significantly reducing costs and accelerating the process of getting
silicon to market. Novas has over 7,000 systems in use at hundreds of
customer sites worldwide. For more information visit www.novas.com or
